Obituary

Karyn S. Witt-Morton 4/24/1957 – 3/19/2019 Karyn Witt-Morton (nee Petrilla), age 61, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine, Wisconsin following a heart attack on Tuesday, March 19. She was surrounded by her loving husband and children. Karyn is survived by her husband Paul Morton, children Stephen (Ann) Witt, Rachael (Jon) Hagan, grandchildren Ben Witt, Cameron Murawski, Amelia Hagan, and Dominic Morton, step-son Alex (Kira) Morton, siblings Joe (Debbi) Kitzmiller, Caroline (Ron Sagnip) Petrilla-Sagnip, John (Jane) Petrilla, and Tami (Mike Haubrich) Witt. She is further survived by loving nieces, nephews, friends and many others who knew and loved the funny, wise person she was. She is preceded in death by her first husband Greg Witt, parents Stephen and Mary Petrilla, and sister, Patti (Chris) Lemonis. Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on April 24, 1957 and raised in Hamilton Square, New Jersey, Karyn graduated from St. Anthony High School and attended Mercer County Community College. She married Greg on December 28, 1976 and moved from New Jersey to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they raised their two children. Taken too soon from his precious family, Greg died in 1996. Years later, Karyn relocated to Racine and married Paul on October 17, 2005. With that union she expanded her family adding her step-son, Alex, to her list of loved ones. In her most recent years, Karyn enjoyed taking road trips to visit family, watching Westerns, listening to her favorite music and bird watching. And most important to her were the precious times spent with her grandchildren. Her quick wit often served to lighten even the most stressful situations. Her laugh and wry sense of humor, mixed with one part sarcasm and two parts wisdom, will be deeply missed. She was great with trivia of all sorts and attributed her love for random bits of knowledge to her husband, Paul. Never focused on materials things, Karyn shared the extraordinary gift of herself with all those she loved and who loved her. Karney, Kobbie, and Bert were her nicknames, bestowed through the years from various sources. And rising above them all, was the name she cherished most – Mother. Thank you for remembering Karyn the way her family does. Loving, giving, funny, smart, brave, protective, cherished and so much more. She was, and always will be, a hero in our eyes. No services are being planned at this time.
