Florian J. "Smitty" Smith

EWING - Florian J. "Smitty" Smith, 52, of Ewing Township, died Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born and raised in Trenton, Mr. Smith worked as an independent newspaper carrier for The Trentonian for many years. He also worked as a courier for Sherute Courier Lab Services of Hamilton Square. Previously Smitty had worked for the Lawrence Township Board of Education. He was a dedicated and devout Philadelphia Eagles football fan. He also enjoyed golf and time spent at the beach. Smitty was an animal lover who doted on his dogs, especially Bentley and Rocky. Additionally he loved history, particularly United States history, and was thoroughly knowledgeable about all the U.S. Presidents. He enjoyed collecting postcards having a Trenton area connection. Son of the late Francis J. Smith, he is survived by his loving wife, Linda M. Caporusso Smith of West Trenton; the "love" and "light" of his life, his Princess, Abby Lin; his beloved mother, Dorothy M. Pilat Smith of Columbus; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Frances D. and Anthony Cammarata of Hamilton Square, Mary C. and Neil Rosner of Yardley, Pa.; three nephews, A.J. and wife Mary Kate Cammarata and their children, Christopher Cammarata and Robbie Rosner; two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Richard and Margaret Caporusso and family of Eastampton, Thomas and Loretta Caporusso and family of Hamilton Township; as well as other family and friends. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the Winowicz Funeral Home, 308 Adeline St., Trenton. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Angels, 1733 S. Broad St., Hamilton. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton. Calling hours will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an Educational Custodial Fund for Florian's daughter, mail to Abby Lin Smith, PO Box 386, Yardley, PA 19067. Donation envelopes will also be available at the register sign-in desk at the funeral home.
