William Maloney

William Patrick Maloney, Jr.

July 10, 1955 - September 12, 2021

William P. Maloney Jr., 66, of Hamilton passed away on Sunday September 12, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. Born in Trenton, NJ, Bill was a lifelong area resident. A 1973 graduate of St. Anthony's High School, he was a dedicated employee of 37 years with the State of NJ Motor Vehicle Commission retiring in 2010. Bill was a Deadhead with a voracious love of music, a passion he shared with his sons. "Wee" as he was known in his youth, loved music, attending well over 100 concerts, and was passionate about his Irish culture and history. Bill was a walking book of knowledge who loved reading and always had a book with him. He was always ready to debate anyone about politics, music or Irish history and thoroughly enjoyed verbal sparring. To the dismay of his debating opponents, he was rarely wrong on the informative facts that left his lips! A fan of the Yankees and Giants, Bill cheered for his teams win or lose (GO Yankees!) A Friend of Bill W. since 1987, Bill had a positive impact on many lives and was fondly known around "the rooms" as "Motor Vehicle Bill", "the Mayor" and "the Great Irish Gentlemen." Bill was a compassionate, loving man who always had a kind word and left a positive impression on everyone who met him. He will be greatly missed by his children, family, and friends. Predeceased by his parents, William P. Maloney Sr. and Joan (Petry) Maloney, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce K. Reister and Gerald D. Laird Sr., and step-father-in-law, Fred W. Reister. He is survived by his sons, Sean G. Maloney and Liam L. Maloney; step–daughter, Sarah (Chris) Belviso–Howard; loving soul-mate and former wife, Deborah Laird Maloney; siblings, Patrick (Ingrid) Maloney, Michael (Toni) Maloney, Mary Kate Maloney, Margaret (Anthony) Cowell, and David (Melissa) Petry; brother-in-law, Gerald (Linda) Laird; grandchildren Seraphina "Ella," Lucia "Lucie," and Finnegan "Finn" Howard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
